Long rehab?

Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo has confirmed on Instagram that he has undergone surgery on his troublesome shoulder.

The Argentina defender, of some 37 caps and 2 goals, has dislocated his shoulder twice since joining Manchester United. He first suffered the injury against Manchester City last season.

The second dislocation, of the same shoulder, happened in training two weeks ago.

He posted this picture on his Instagram account with the message:

‘My operation was a success. Thank you to my beautiful wife, always with me. Thank you everyone for your messages of love and support.’

We have been very impressed with Rojo since he joined Manchester United and think that he is a top defender in the making. He has made mistakes but we put this partly down to a lack of game time.

Rojo has never really had a prolonged run in the side due to a variety of physical issues.

The operation was a reaction to the same injury occurring twice and the recuperation time for such an operation is anything up to two months.

Manchester United could have used his pace and dynamism against Wolfsburg last night and he will continue to be a big miss, with so many other United defenders currently injured.

Rojo is the second Manchester United player to undergo surgery in as any months after Antonio Valencia was operated on last month.
