Arsenal have shortlist to replace Coquelin and it’s very tasty indeed – report

Carvalho: Baby Faced Beast!

Power

Quite why Arsene didn’t buy another defensive midfielder in the summer is anyone’s guess.

Ours is that he felt Francis Coquelin would be enough with players like Arteta, Rosicky and Wilshere for cover.

As it turns out all of them have been crocked and Arsenal once more look very short in the engine room.

Coquelin will be out for at least two months and that has led many a media outlet to speculate on replacements.

The Daily Mail says that Arsenal have a very tasty shortlist of two – and it’s not the first time that these guys have been mentioned in relation to The Gunners:

Arsenal line up a replacement for Francis Coquelin with Lars Bender and William Carvalho on shortlist to replace injured star

Carvalho: Baby Faced Beast!

Carvalho: Baby Faced Beast!

Lars Bender is the sort of solid pro who could definitely be counted on at Arsenal.

But we have always been big fans of Carvalho, who seems to have something of the Yaya Toure about him every time we see him play.

He seems bigger, stronger, more skilful than most opponents and is a quite majestic passer of the football.

Perhaps there is one big flaw in his game that we don’t see. Or perhaps his price tag is prohibitive. But we are amazed that an elite club hasn’t yet snapped him up.

Because this young star is going to become a world class midfielder for anyone prepared to pay the going rate.

Arsenal would certainly be a better team with him it.

Let’s see some Carvalho elegance. Arsenal fans: does he have the potential to fill Vieira’s boots?
