Arsenal have been linked to a move for the brilliant young striker Mauro Icardi by reports in Italy.
The BBC passes on the news from Tuttosport that:
The Gunners are ready to make a January offer for 22-year-old Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, who has scored 27 goals in 48 games for the Serie A side.
All in all the 22 year old has scored a highly creditable 51 goals in his club career which somehow already spans 6 seasons at the top level.
Icardi scored 11 in 33 games for Sampdoria before a big move to Inter.
In three seasons with the Italian giants Icardi has developed into a top marksman with 27 in 48 last year being his best return so far. The South American has one cap for Argentina, making his debut in a World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in 2013.
His goals have dried up a little this season – he still a decent tally of 4 in 11 – but the report suggests that Arsenal, among others, could snare the player and are prepared to pay between 30-40 million Euros in January or next summer.
All attempts to sign the forward have so far been rebuffed.
Let’s have a look at him in action. Arsenal fans: do you feel that Icardi represents an obvious upgrade on Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott?
