When you think about the Barcelona attack you immediately think ‘PACE’. All three of Suarez, Messi and Neymar are superb technicians but they also have the speed of thought and movement which separates them from most.
So quite where Ezequiel Lavezzi would fit into this team is debatable. He isn’t known for his pace and isn’t a prolific goalscorer, with 7 in 48 caps for Argentina.
But he does have the technique and speed of thought to make him an interesting proposition for Barcelona and the player himself has opened up on his feelings about a potential move. He told TYC Sports (via Sky).
“I’ll be calm and I’ll try to make the best decision. Rumours are normal because my contract expires. We’ll see,”
“I won’t deny it would be a dream to play at Barca, although I’m now playing at a team that is almost as good.”
The 30 year old has been linked with a move to Barcelona this week and the Spanish outfit does appear to be on the look out for more attacking depth.
Lavezzi is a wonderfully composed player who has scored 34 times in 154 games for PSG since he moved from Napoli a year before Edinson Cavani in 2012.
More of a creator than a goal poacher Lavezzi always seems to have time on the ball.
Whether the could do a big job for Barcelona remains to be seen.
Let’s see him in action.
