Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is a well known meritocrat.
He doesn’t care how big your profile or price tag. If you aren’t performing then you will be replaced by someone who is.
And that has been the case of late with Memphis and Jesse Lingard.
The Manchester United academy product has been playing out of his skin and scored a pearler from the edge of the box in The Reds’ last game against WBA.
So we would imagine that he would simply have to start the next match.
If Memphis plays particularly well in the international break then he can still find a place in this Manchester United side at the expense of another player.
Indeed, if everyone stays fit, that is exactly what we would do.
This side needs pace and we feel that Lingard and Memphis offer the most direct running on either flank, with Anthony Martial up top.
If the squad remains largely unscathed through this international fortnight (aside from the crocked Michael Carrick) we think that Manchester United’s strongest XI looks like so.
United fans: let’s have your teams
