This is an interesting sound bite.
Manchester United looked set to keep Javier Hernandez in the summer as a back up to Wayne Rooney.
But, no sooner had he settled back into pre-season, after his loan spell to Real Madrid, as he was off to Germany on a permanent move.
The shocked many including his mate David de Gea. The Manchester United stopper still seems perplexed about the move. He told ESPN Deportes show Fuera De Juego (via SkySPorts):
“These are decisions for the coach. But in my team he would always play,”
“He was an undisputed starter before and player of the year at United.
“He can get you 20, 30 goals a season. I would like a lot to play with him again, hopefully it can happen.”
We are a bit on the fence about this one. Chicharito was undoubtedly a fan favourite at Manchester United and started brilliantly with over 20 goals in his first season at the club (2010/11).
But his form waned and frailties were exposed in his game such as poor hold up play and a heavy touch at times.
Louis van Gaal is paid to make tough decisions and, given the choice between Anthony Martial and Chicharito we would take the Frenchman every day.
But the Mexican has been on fire for Leverkusen, scoring in his last 6 games for the club and his goals would have come in handy over the last few weeks at Manchester United.
Reds fans: bad move to let him go?
