Manchester United don’t muck about when it comes to getting unavoidable operations out of the way and Antonio Valencia looks like a case in point.
The right winger and, latterly, right back injured his foot in last month’s Manchester derby and it has been decided that an operation was necessary.
Valencia tweeted from his hospital bed after the operation in a thumbs up to his fans:
The 30 year old joined Manchester United in 2009 as a direct replacement for Ronaldo.
Despite breaking his leg he had a creditable first two seasons.
But his ability to beat a defender seems to have waned with each passing year and Alex Ferguson first started using him as an emergency right back in 2013.
Since then both LvG and David Moyes have used him there and he has become a dependable squad member and tireless worker for the team.
His loss will be a big one and Manchester United fans will hope that Matteo Darmian can return to top form after this suspension to really nail down his starting pace in this side.
Let’s see Tony V’s best moments for Manchester United.
