We have been saying it for months and, last night, Jordan Ibe started to show what all the fuss is about.
In truth, even though he is only 19, he has already shown in the fleeting appearances for the club that he can be a very special player indeed.
His physique is such that he already looks too big for the Liverpool kit. So he won’t have any problems with the hustle and bustle of The Premier League.
And he has the sort of pace and direct style that could keep him in the side if he gets a run of games.
And, lest we forget, at 19 you can literally run all day and hardly break sweat.
And JK said of the lad after the Kazan game:
“Jordon is a skilful player and a big talent – fast, strong, good at dribbling. He has to learn so much but has a real good base. He feels good. You could see it in this match.
“Like everyone, he has a long way to go. If he’s prepared to listen then he will be very good.”
Ibe may well become the sort of signature selection that becomes a hallmark of the new era at Liverpool and we strongly he has a big future for Liverpool. But perhaps he will make way again this weekend.
After beating FC Kazan (their new official name) on Thursday Liverpool can be thankful for a home game this weekend. But Crystal Palace are flying and earned a well-deserved point against Manchester United at the weekend.
Liverpool have at least 7 players on the treatment table and none are set to return this weekend. They include Toure, Flanagan, Rossiter, Ings, Henderson, Gomez and Sturridge.
With all this in mind, here is our XI for the last game before another international snoozefest.
Liverpool fans: let’s have your XIs.
