Having got Arsenal and Manchester City out of the way recently, Manchester United go into a run of eminently winnable fixtures with a largely healthy squad.
While other teams are starting to pick up injuries, perhaps Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal will get some luck this time around.
Because this time last season he still had a dozen players on the treatment table.
It’s just Luke Shaw out right now with Paddy McNair the latest to near first team training again.
Ashley Young has also recovered well.
And, with Chelsea and Arsenal the latest casualties in this competition Manchester United might well fancy a tilt at the final this year.
Liverpool and Manchester City should now provide the stiffest opponents left in the competition, which is now at 4th round stage, with the quarter finals next.
Looking at the team sheets Manchester United are clearly taking this competition seriously and will see any silverware as good silverware after a couple of years in the relative abyss.
It should be an open game.
