Real Madrid linked with almost inconceivable transfer – report

Surprise?

We have heard some strange transfer rumours over the years but this one has to be up there with the very best of them.

British media outlet, The Metro, has used its ostensibly favourite source of sensationalism to suggest that Real Madrid are looking at one of the surprise packages of The Premier League season:

Real Madrid identify Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy as the perfect January transfer target – report

This is according to uber-sensationalist Spanish tabloid, fichajes.net, who reckon that Real Madrid will attempt to sign the on-fire forward as competition for Karim Benzema after Christmas.

Vardy has had a superb season so far, scoring 10 goals in 10 Premier League games, including a record equalling 7 in consecutive league games with the goal against Crystal Palace at the weekend.

At 28 he is no spring chicken and made his way to the top the hard way by coming from non-league football just a few years back.

It’s an astonishing rise to preeminence and, while Vardy may well move on in the next couple of windows, we don’t think that he is suited to Real Madrid or La Liga.

He’s more of a hard-working and energetic player who puts in the hard yards and has a decent touch. But perhaps not the finesse to really make a name for himself as a centre forward for Real Madrid.

Perhaps then, the recent reports of a move to Liverpool or Tottenham may be closer to the mark.

Liverpool’s new manager Jurgen Klopp seems to love a hard worker and ESPN reported yesterday that both the Anfield outfit and Tottenham are monitoring him:

Liverpool and Tottenham are keeping a close eye on Leicester City’s in-form striker Jamie Vardy, sources have told ESPN FC.

Let’s take a look at the dynamo in action. Liverpool and Tottenham fans: worth a nibble?
