A noon kick off for Sunderland vs Newcastle will leave many asking how many of the players will still be drunk after Saturday night on The Toon!
Seriously though, football isn’t particularly a laughing matter for either team right now as the reality of another slog of a season hits both Newcastle and Sunderland.
The fact that Big Sam Allardyce has joined Sunderland can only be a good thing for The Black Cats.
He is not only a master at steadying the ship of Premier League clubs.
But he most likely still has a bad taste in his mouth at the treatment he received during his 8 month tenure at Newcastle – extra motivation should to win this one, should he need any.
Newcastle look the most likely of the two teams to have a stormer of a game at any given time.
But Steve McClaren’s team is still strangely vulnerable and lacks the spirit of the great Newcastle sides.
For these reasons, it’s absolutely impossible to predict what will happen in this game.
But it surely won’t lack for energy and passion.
