What a baptism of fire for the new Liverpool manager. He would surely have preferred a plum home tie to see in his tenure at the great club than a tough away trip to an improving Tottenham on the back of another gruelling international break.
But there is something special already about Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.
We have been saying for months that Klopp would be the perfect man and the Liverpool board have acted in a timely fashion to get their man.
Never ones to sit on the fence, we think that this is the dawn of a bright new era for Liverpool when they finally break that glass ceiling between them and The Premier League title.
It may not happen straight away but Klopp is a cut above Rodgers and it will be interesting to see if he can bring any of that great Dortmund team to Liverpool. Hummels, Reus and Gundogan would be brilliant additions.
But, to matters in hand. Liverpool largely escaped international injuries apart from a possible shocker with Gomez during U21 action on Tuesday.
They will be missing Flanagan, Henderson, Firmino and Lovren for this one but Klopp can pick a pretty strong team apart from that.
He may well use his attacking fullbacks for this one – Moreno and Clyne – and Sakho and Skrtel should get the nod at the back.
We think that Benteke should be flanked by Ings and Sturridge with Coutinho pulling the strings at number 10 (if fit) and a solid defensive midfield behind them.
So here is our, rather adventurous XI for one of the games of the weekend. Surely a draw is on the cards.

Of course the problem you have is Klopp very rarely plays a front 3 ! 90% of Klopp’s teams line up as a 4-2-3-1, very occasionally he plays 4-4-1-1 or 4-1-4-1 and least often he uses 4-3-3 . Liverpool’s best football was 2 seasons ago when we played 4-2-3-1 and Suarez and Sturridge shared the striker with each dropping back into the 3 alternately with Sterling and Couthino making up the 3. I think he will play Couthino and Lallana in the 3 with either Texiera or Sturridge joining them in the 3. If it’s Texiera then Sturridge will play as the striker, if Sturridge is in the 3 then Ings will play up front. The two I believe will be Milner and Can with the same back four as in recent games.
