Manchester City were fortunate to beat Borussia in Germany on Wednesday night. But, after so many poor results in the competition, they would take that any day.
And with Sergio Aguero back in the team they always have a player who can make a difference in the tightest games when things are going against Manchester City.
He will be a nailed on starter, if fit, for City this weekend, as they take on a slowly improving Newcastle.
Newcastle were much better against Chelsea and also showed some substance against Manchester United. But they remain at the bottom end of the table and desperately need points.
They will defend in numbers against Manchester City and hope to hit them on the break.
But City are pretty good at breaking down teams who park the bus and we expect a comfortable victory for Manuel Pellegrini’s men on Saturday (Kick Off 15:00 local time).
Kevin De Bruyne has brought even more wow factor to Manchester City and he may yet prove to be the player of the season. He’s a wonderfully composed and pacy player who has completed outshone Raheem Sterling since his arrival.
But he, Sterling and Aguero will continue to improve as a unit and some team is going to take proper battering before long.
So here is our team to take Manchester City back to the top, with United playing Arsenal on Sunday.
