The Capital One Cup 3rd Round, Wednesday 23rd September 2015, White Hart Lane, Kick Off 19:45 Local Time
Tottenham: Vorm, Trippier, Fazio, Wimmer, Rose, Carroll, Dier, Chadli, Eriksen, Townsend, Kane.
Arsenal: Ospina, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Chambers, Gibbs, Arteta, Flamini, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Ramsey, Campbell, Giroud.
It doesn’t matter when or where these teams play each other. There is always a bit of needle and the level of competition is high.
Arsenal and Tottenham simply can’t help themselves when it comes to this fixture. Pride and bragging rights are at stake, not to mention a serious chance of silverware for two clubs aching for less space in their trophy cabinets.
Arsenal have utilised this competition very much as a training ground for the younger generation, but with Arsene Wenger under pressure to win things every year and Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino having now been in the job for long enough to be judged, this one should be worth watching.
Both Arsenal and Tottenham have had sluggish starts to their seasons and a morale-boosting win against their arch rivals could be the spark for some serious momentum.
It will be an intense affair as ever and we have Tottenham as slight favourites, merely because they are playing in front of their own, partisan supporters.
