Report: Manchester United consider bringing one of the world’s best to Old Trafford

We continue to admire the job that Louis van Gaal is doing in sorting out the Manchester United squad from top to bottom.

But the long this tenure goes on without serious silverware, the more he begins to look like an interim coach, who is minding the troops before the next great era.

Reports today suggest that, when he does leave the club (possibly at the end of his current contract in 2017) that a highly sought after man could take the hotseat. The Mirror states:

Manchester United eyeing Pep Guardiola as their new manager after Louis van Gaal

The report suggests that United may even move for Guardiola next summer.

He’s a top boss and, with his possession based football, he isn’t too dissimilar in managerial style to LvG himself.

But we believe that most Manchester United fans are backing Ryan Giggs for the head coach position after Louis leaves.

We have seen a president with Pep himself, who took over at Barca as a coltish coach, after a celebrated career at the club.

He went on to become one of Barca’s greatest leaders ever as a Messi inspired XI beat allcomers – not to mention United twice in The Champions League Final.

Giggs will make mistakes of course. But he is precisely the sort of attack-minded manager that Manchester United fans want to see at the helm next, after the era of controlled football that is currently being seen at the club.

One criticism that you could level at LvG is that his teams don’t take enough risks. But you can be almost certain that the same concerns won’t be aimed at Giggs if he takes over at Manchester United.

So it has to be Giggs for us.
