Good Work

It’s was a really fascinating transfer window for Manchester United.

Many would call it a disaster as the club let go of so many seasoned internationals and perhaps failed to fill the gaps in defence and attack that many of the fans have been hoping for.

But Van Gaal has been bold and we believe that Manchester United have come out of the window really well in the end.

Anthony Martial

We felt that Manchester United’s biggest shortcoming in the window was their failure to sign a top right winger – for our money they needed that most.

But, perhaps having failed to find one that he really liked, he instead went for the superb Anthony Martial. We think that he will play wide most of the time in his early days at the club to inject pace and power on the opposite flank to Memphis.

And we applaud Louis for buying youngsters in the same spirit as Sir Alex.

It’s a big gamble spending £36m on Anthony Martial, a 19 year old with huge promise but no experience.

But we have always moaned about the policy of signing veterans so we will stick by Louis now.

He has injected huge amounts of pace into the front line which will now consist of Memphis and Martial either side of Rooney – it’s going to be extremely exciting to watch – the attack and the first 11 has been improved.

Memphis, Rooney, Martial – speed either side of a deadly finisher – mouthwatering.

David De Gea

Whether it was a sneaky stalling tactic on Louis’s part or not, the fact remains that Manchester United have dodged a huge bullet by holding on to David de Gea.

Lord knows what would have happened had Manchester United relied on Romero and Navas for their defensive solidity. It would have been a proper disaster.

So Manchester United end the window with a solid midfield, a world class goalkeeper and one of the best young strikers in the world.

Unlike most, we don’t think that’s too bad an outcome.
