This one is very interesting.

David de Gea’s paperwork, for his move to Real Madrid, didn’t go through in time to hit the deadline for the Spain’s transfer window.

There was some kind of glitch in the system which meant that thew relevant papers weren’t received in time.

In England such deals can get extenuating circumstances.

But no such thing has ever happened in Spain. This could be great news for Manchester United.

Sky Sports says:

La Liga has confirmed that it did not receive the relevant documents for the agreement by its deadline of midnight on August 31 – and Spanish newspaper Marca, known for its close ties with Real Madrid, believes the deal is off until January at the earliest.

With the goalkeeping situation at Manchester United looking anything but secure right now this could be the perfect end to a horrible transfer saga.

This way, Manchester United get to keep De Gea until January, by which point they will have had a chance to sign a proper replacement.

Because, for our money, Keylor Navas is not the answer.

He couldn’t even get in the Real Madrid team ahead of Iker Casillas, whose standard has slipped beyond all recognition since he became a legend at Real Madrid.

The source reports that there may be an appeal but we think it would be highly dubious if the appeal succeeded, given the history of such attempts.

We shall keep you posted. Manchester United fans: serendipity?

Has your windows crashed as well? Firstly Navas would be a great replacement given the circumstances. He actually has a better record than De Gea over the last five years save ratio/shots to goals faced/aerial catches etc. So clearly you don’t know much about Navas. Second of all this is an absolute calamity! De Gea won’t be playing between now and January and you can expect that instead of £29m plus Navas that United will get absolutely NOTHING as he will walk on a free come next June. How is this good for United at all??
