It’s been an extraordinarily busy window for Manchester United, with 7 signings and 18 departures, either permanently or on loan.
While many were hoping for another experienced, marquee capture before the end of the window the signing of Anthony Martial is hugely exciting.
We have felt for some time that Manchester United had too many squad members but not enough first eleven players.
Louis van Gaal has very much streamlined the squad and also added a footballer who can become world-class.
In cutting the size of the squad Louis van Gaal has also paid for professionals who he arguably feels will go straight into the side.
Darmian and Memphis look as if they will start every game. Much is expected of Anthony Martial. And the additions of Schweinsteiger and Schneiderlin will give Manchester United far more authority in midfield.
So let’s take a look at the arrivals and departures in a manic summer of activity.

Ashley Young is more experienced than Depay and Rooney cannot play a striking role for Man U.
