4-2-3-1: Arsenal’s Best XI with all the summer business now confirmed?

Strong enough?

Arsenal have undoubtedly improved their first team this summer but familiar questions will be asked about why Arsene Wenger hasn’t added a stellar striker and another top anchor man to the ranks.

Defence

Petr Cech has come into the first team to finally end the discussion about whether Arsenal have a good enough keeper to win silverware.

The back four will remain largely the same but we wonder whether Gabriel Paulista – who has been hitherto impressive when given the chance this season – will increasingly come to the fore in place of the experienced but increasingly sluggish Per Mertesacker.

Midfield

This has typically been Arsenal’s strong suit under Wenger and the midfield remains superb going forward. But in the defensive areas of the engine room Arsenal still look soft.

Attack

We still haven’t seen the addition of a top drawer striker.

Consequently, we are concerned that Arsenal’s season is going to be very similar to the last ten campaigns.

They will again be lovely to watch and regularly commanding against the average sides, but lose out in the title race because of their inability to beat the best on a consistent basis.

It may be a similar story in Europe where the lack of a top finisher could cost Arsenal in the knockout rounds.

If this does happen, how will Arsenal fans feel about their manager come the end of the season?

Arsenal retain a very strong squad, but not a complete one.
