4-2-3-1: Manchester United’s best XI to beat Swansea in a must win match

Ashley Young needs surgery on his groin

Big Game

It’s only game four of the season.

But, having not yet played any of the really big boys, Manchester United can ill afford to go further behind Manchester City, even at this early stage of the season, if they are to have any hope at all of reclaiming the title which they used to win almost effortlessly.

It’s also the last game before the international break and Manchester United will want to go into that on the back of two more wins this week.

The performance against a much improved Newcastle demonstrated Manchester United’s new found solidity.

We think that, if De Gea plays, United have as good a back seven as any team in the league.

It’s the front four which needs tweaking.

Juan Mata is a good player but he is causing the wrong sort of problems on the right wing.

He too often cuts in when the natural right winger would use the space ahead of him. But Mata has no pace – he’s much more of a wand waver and needs to be in the middle for that.

So, from now on, we are placing him at number ten or nowhere at all.

The question then is who plays right. Manchester United desperately need to sign a solution this week – we simply can’t see them winning silverware if they don’t buy a pacy right winger.

Meantime, the options are Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia, Andreas Pereira, Adnan Januzaj or popping Memphis right with Young on the left. And that is what we are going for in the short term. It will give Memphis the chance to get down the right and offer some decent service from the byline with his stronger right foot.

So here is our best XI for Swansea in the sincere hope that, by the next time we are picking the team, a top right winger will gave been signed.

Manchester United fans: let’s have your elevens.

If United play Schneiderlin – Carrick or Schweinsteiger count on …0-0 draw or 0-1 loss! United need Midfielders to get forward and actually get some shots by linking up with the forwards. They maybe the only team in the PL with no shots from their midfield!

Herrera’s second half effort against Brugge proves he deserves the start at #10 vs Swansea. Herrera will provide the artistry and cohesion the front four have been needing. Schneiderlin can protect the back four and Schweinsteiger can boss the midfield with those killer passes.
