For our money the modern Barcelona is undoubtedly the best club side of all time.

They don’t just play winning football but it’s beautiful to watch too.

For this reason, it’s hard not to like them, regardless of who you support.

And much of their success has been built on the triumvirate of Messi, Xavi and Iniesta.

While other top talents have come and gone, these three have been the backbone of the great Barcelona side.

Xavi has left the club this summer and Iniesta is reaching veteran status at 31.

So the club is going to have to do the impossible and try to replace these guys before too long.

Ivan Rakitic has been a good signing but you do feel that much more investment will be needed in the midfield before too long.

Because these two guys offered guile and goals for almost a decade.

One player who has been linked to Barcelona is Aaron Ramsey of Arsenal. And in an interview with British media outlet, The Guardian, this week he says that he would be tempted to move to Spain should the opportunity arise.

The Guardian reports:

“Obviously it’s very flattering,” he says. “They did the treble last year and it’s just really nice to be linked with one of the best clubs in the world. One day I would like to go over to Spain to play just to see what it’s like.

The 24 year old is an elegant and adaptable player who can fill in in various positions. He’s played as a defensive midfielder and on the wing for The Gunners.

But the season before last he played as an attacking midfielder and was superb, scoring 16 goals in 34 appearances before getting injured towards the end of the campaign.

He would have a huge job on his hands to make the grade at Barcelona but, for our money, he would be worth a punt.

Let’s see him in action.
