There are some foreign imports who you immediately fear will struggle to adapt in their new league.

We were always concerned about how Angel di Maria would fare in his new surroundings.

But others take to it like ducks to water and that has to be said about 21 year old Memphis Depay.

We like this kid a lot. Signed by Manchester United for a princely sum at the start of the summer, he still has much room for improvement.

But any concerns about his attitude have already been exploded with the way he has taken to his new job.

Depay looks like a kid in a sweet shop and, whatever his future holds, you can see that he is genuinely over the moon to be playing for Manchester United.

In his latest public comments he talked about the pride of playing for a huge club. He told MUTV:

Memphis: “I really enjoy it. I’m serious, every day to wake up as a Manchester United player is awesome.”

We think that this kid has a lot to learn but he has exactly the right attitude to make a success of himself at Manchester United.

And the way that he stole in ahead of the defender for his first goal for the club gave us all a glimpse of his electric pace – a quality that has been sorely lacking in the Manchester United team for the last few years.

“Of course, it was a mistake by the defender but Wayne [Rooney] was putting pressure on him [Jean-Baptiste Pierazzi] so he made the mistake. I was reading the situation. I already thought, like gambling, that he was going to lose the ball so I was there and made my first goal.”

If Thomas Muller turns up at Old Trafford expect Memphis to move out to the wing. But he has played his first two games for the club through the middle and may well end up there as his career progresses. Because he’s already the joint top scorer for Manchester United this season – with the grand total of 1!

We can’t wait to see how he does against Barcelona at the weekend.

Let’s see that goal again.
