Liverpool have done some fantastic business this summer already – Christian Benteke is the latest to move to Anfield after the likes of Roberto Firmino and Nathaniel Clyne came in.
But if Brendan Rodgers could mastermind an unlikely deal for the sublime Marco Reus then there would be no argument as to who the best summer acquisition would be.
Because, at 26, this lad is on the cusp of greatness. If he hadn’t been injured just before last year’s World Cup in Brazil, we feel that he would already have achieved that status.
But now, fit and firing again, he really is one of the great gems of the game.
And now Tancredo Palmieri, the beIN Sports correspondent and CNN/Gazzetta dello Sport contributor, has Tweeted that Liverpool are attempting to beat Real Madrid the signature of the superstar in waiting.
And The Metro has reported that:
Marco Reus ‘in shock talks over £47.8m Liverpool transfer deal’
Reus has had a prolific club career in Germany scoring 99 goals in 272 games for Borussia Dortmund and Rot Weiss Ahlen. He’s also played for Germany whenever fit, since his debut in 2011, playing 25 games and scoring 9 goals – not bad for a winger by nature.
In fact this guy is a dream of a player all round. He glides across the surface with grace and intent.
He rarely gives the ball away and is a great team player.
But he also has that individual skill and deadly finishing ability that can change games at the very top level.
Whether Liverpool can persuade him to spend a season outside The Champions League remains to be seen. But he would be a massive success at the club in what would be a club record transfer for an incoming player, according to the report.
Let’s see him in action.
Liverpool fans: The perfect addition?

There is no way on earth are we trying to sign Reus . We know Henderson, Milner, Coutinho and Firmino are pretty much guaranteed starters and none of those are deep lying mids really not to mention Rodgers saying he was planning on using Ibe heavily this season so unless we’re going to use about 8 midfielders every match where and who will Reus replace because I’m pretty sure he’d want first team football ???????

He always seems to be injured. His injury history makes him too much of an injury risk at the quoted price, best to pass on him (no pun intended).
