Good News

This is a very interesting line.

But it’s rarely boring when Louis van Gaal faces the media is it?

In his latest press conference, ahead of Manchester United’s second game in their pre-season tour of America, Van Gaal has opened up about the transfer situation by admitting that the club is indeed after another striker to bolster their front line.

But, in an intriguing comment, he said that it’s not the player that the media is suggesting. The Guardian writes:

The manager confirmed that he is still open to signing a striker. “Yes. He’s in the process. But you have to wait and see. It’s not the striker that the media has written.

Of course there has been a huge amount of hype this week about Thomas Muller to Manchester United. But perhaps we should assume that United aren’t in for him now.

Also there have been rumours about Cristiano Ronaldo, but perhaps we can quash these too.

What is for sure is that, despite doing major business already, it’s going to be a big last 6 weeks for Manchester United in the market. LvG reminded us that:

The transfer period is open until 31 August or 2 September,

Also rather interestingly, Van Gaal suggested that new signing Matteo Darmian will begin the season as second choice right back.

The 25 year old signed this summer for £12.7m from Torino. But, perhaps in an attempt to keep him in his toes and clarify that he’s working in a meritocracy, LvG stated:

“We have brought Darmian for the second position behind [Antonio] Valencia and now already because of that injury [Paddy] McNair has to play there,” he said.

Manchester United fans: who would you most like to see the club sign this summer for the striking department?

I will love to see Waza up front again, I think and am very sure Waza can deliver again. but we need backup for Waza, even Chicarito is more important to d team, we will be happy to see him again as backup for Waza.
