Newcastle manager Steve McClaren wasn’t exactly greeted with universal applause form The Toon Army when he joined the club this summer.
After a checkered career in football many Newcastle fans thought that this could turn out to be one of Mike Ashley’s worst ideas yet – and he’s arguably had a few.
But, if the new boss does a deal to bring Georginio Wijnaldum to the club, he may soon be seen as a hero.
Because, make no mistakes, the PSV captain is a game changing talent and he’s is coming into the peak of his career. Sky Sports reports today that a bid is expected from PSV for his services.
We understand PSV are expecting a bid from Newcastle for the player but there has been nothing concrete so far.
After a wretched few seasons for Newcastle this signing could turn things around. Because if Newcastle can bring a new marksman into the club who can feed off the service from the Dutchman, it could transform the whole team – put them on the front foot once more.
At 24 Wijnaldum is an explosive, powerful and pacy talent. He battered in 18 goals in 42 games from midfield last season and also got 5 assists. He’s a very effective player who also loves to run with the ball and take opponents on.
He’s got good experience with 19 caps and 3 goals for Holland and, while he may not be quite as prolific in the most competitive league in the world, we think he is a safe bet to achieve things with Newcastle.
Let’s see the lad in action: Newcastle fans: a top buy?
