News today that, while the transfer ban is still on, Barcelona continue to be very active in attempting to complete deals for players.
Sky Sports quotes Barca’s presidential candidate Josep Maria Bartomeu who says:
“Luis Enrique has won everyone’s confidence and he deserved that they listen to him in signing Arda Turan, who is a great player. I tell the interim management as a candidate to the presidency that I have no problem if Arda Turan is signed as requested by Luis Enrique.”
We would be a little surprised if Turan decides to move to Barcelona. It will not only mean that he plays for Atletico for another half season at least, but also that he will be joining a direct rival after giving so much to the Atletico cause over the last few seasons.
Furthermore, Turan’s agent stated last week that:
“His will is to leave and to play in the Premier League, that is the path he would like to take to continue his career.
Never worked Arda
If this move to Barcelona is to be believed then either the Catalans have come in with a last minute bid or the player has changed his mind.
But the list of clubs that wants him simply adds weight to the fact that this is a top drawer player who could get into any team in the world. We are expecting a decision on this one any time now so watch this space for more.
