The best transfer news this summer for Manchester United

Good One

In a topsy turvy transfer window Manchester United are wanting value for money and the idea of signing Sergio Ramos for silly money flies in the face of that.

But there is no doubt he is a top player and if Manchester United can negotiate some kind of deal, which negates the overall cash outlay, then it’s happy days.

And finally, it seems that someone is standing up to Real Madrid. They are so used to getting what they want that they must be scratching their heads right now. Because latest reports in The Guardian suggest that Manchester United have told Madrid that:

If Ramos, who has been at Real for 10 years and has a contract that expires in 2017, is not sold to United then De Gea will not be allowed to be bought.

Straight swap

Straight swap

Damn straight!

Forget the fact that De Gea only has a year left on his contract. For our money, he’s a far better investment than Ramos. This is one of the top 3 keepers in the world – and certainly the most spectacular – who is only 24. He solves the problem between the sticks for Real Madrid for 10 years.

De Gea - Mustard

De Gea – Mustard

So we think that this should be a straight swap with no money changing hands. Even though Manchester United fans will be gutted to see De Gea go, they would be pretty chuffed to get Ramos for nothing in return.

So, whatever else happens this summer in the market, this has to be the best piece of news for Manchester United so far.

Louis is playing hard ball!
