Whenever we suggest a Barcelona team of the future, the first question that most of you ask is ‘where is Busquets?’
He’s the sort of player who can go under the radar in a team where the viewer struggles to look at anything other than Lionel Messi.
But every Barcelona fan knows the value of this lad. In many ways, he could be more important to the team than Messi himself.
Because he makes things tick in a quietly efficient manner. He rarely gives the ball away, keeps things simple, starts attacks and always seems to be in the right pace at the right time.
With Rakitic scoring a goal in The Champions League final to top off a great season, and Iniesta as good as ever, perhaps potential signing Paul Pogba will have a struggle to get into the team if he joins Barcelona next January.
But Busquets reminds us very much of Manchester United’s Michael Carrick. People outside the club don’t quite understand what all the fuss is about. But those who watch him every week know that he is the master of the midfield and a player who is virtually impossible to replace.
So it appears that, whoever makes way for Paul Pogba, Barca fans will be happy as long as Sergio stays in the team.
Let’s see him in action. Barcelona fans: how important is Busquets?
