While Manchester City are clearly looking to sign some stellar A-listers this summer they also, ostensibly, have a mind to add more Englishmen to the core.
There has been a lot of talk about Jack Wilshere and latest reports suggest that Fabian Delph could also be on the radar. The Mirror claims:
Manchester City eye transfer of Aston Villa’s Fabian Delph for just £10m thanks to release clause
Whenever Delph takes to the football field he plays as if it’s his last day on earth. There doesn’t appear to be a cruise mode with this lad and energy on the park is one of his strongest suits.
He made his debut for England last year and, while some thought he might be a flash in the pan at international level, the relish with which he attacked those games impressed many.
He sometimes looks like a red card waiting to happen but, in general, he would be a good addition to most squads with his tireless work ethic and good close control.
He is also an adaptable player who could do a decent job anywhere across the midfield.
All in all we think that, while he may struggle for a game every week, when everyone is fit, he wouldn’t let Manchester City down and perhaps offer the same sort of qualities that the club has lost with the departure of James Milner.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Manchester City fans: is Delph first eleven quality?
