It’s always a sad day for Manchester United fans when they have to lose a really top quality player. When Becks left the club United had to spend time rebuilding. Cristiano Ronaldo still hasn’t been replaced at the club. And now David de Gea seems certain to move to Real Madrid.
With news that his rented home has been put on the market it now seems a matter of when not if he leaves.
The Manchester United keeper has had a superb spell at the club and has certainly been kept busy during times of transition. Whether he will get bored with long spells of inactivity, in a league which isn’t as competitive as The Prem, remains to be seen.
But, one thing is for sure, he will return to Spain a much better keeper for the experience in England. He was buffeted around for the first 18 months by opponents who targeted his still developing and rather waif-like physique.
He may not have had the same treatment had he stayed in Spain and this will hold him in great stead for the future, just as it did with the aforementioned Cristiano.
With player power more potent than ever it seems that De Gea’s wish is to succeed Iker Casillas at Real Madrid and, while there is obvious sadness that The Premier League and Manchester United are losing such a spectacular player, we have no doubt that he will be a huge success in Spain.
Good luck DDG
