Report: Arsenal set to agree 35.2m Euro Deal for 38 cap international

Arsenal need to strengthen their spine and Arsene Wenger seems to finally agree, if widespread reports of an impending deal for Petr Cech are to be believed.

It’s a great coup for Arsenal and, whatever their failings next season, the goalkeeper position is unlikely to be one of them.

After this deal they will need to prioritise an anchor man – someone to fill the long-standing breach left by Mr. Vieira – and a top striker.

We are very disappointed by reports that Geoffrey Kondogbia has agreed a deal to join Inter. He would have been just the sort of dynamo who could have toughened up the engine room for Arsenal. So that quest continues.

In terms of attacking talent, latest tabloid reports suggest that Arsenal are closing in on Jackson Martinez. The Express reports:

Jackson Martinez set for £25m (35.2m Euros) Arsenal DEAL as Atletico eye Man Utd star Javier Hernandez

Of course, if Arsenal signed every player that The Express mooted, they would have a squad size of a small army.

And we do think that this signing would represent a real gamble for a manager known for his prudence in the market.

Martinez: Gamble

Martinez: Gamble

Martinez has been prolific in Portugal, scoring a whopping 67 in just 90 league games. But, at 28, he hasn’t started every game for Colombia since his debut in 2009 (38 caps and 10 goals) and may struggle to adapt to England.

He could of course turn out to be an Alexis Sanchez style success and he seems keen to join Arsenal. The same report quotes him as saying that he would be open to joining The Gunners:

“It’s a big club in one of the best leagues in the world. We have to see if an offer will become a reality or not.

“The day we’ll know where my future goes is near. I still haven’t decided, as I’m focused on the Copa America right now.”

However, it is also being reported by AS that the player will agree a deal to move to Atletico Madrid.

We shall keep you updated.

Is Wenger still on the transfer market? All targets are eventually drifting away to the smart clubs with smart managers. Early birds recommended for Wenger & Arsenal.

Even also wanting to sell ospina leaving shaky schezney there????….he is just giving us heart attack yet teams are snapping up good players away???? If spending is painful for him, let him handover to thierry or those other legends of the club??? Other we are fed-up????
