Report: Arsenal manager has held talks with game changing talent

Indefatigable

We have been up in arms about Arsenal’s apparent sluggishness in terms of doing a deal with Saints for Morgan Schneiderlin. While some may feel that Francis Coquelin is just as good in the anchor man role, we believe that his fellow countryman would be a big upgrade – a player with great experience at club and international level, who has the talent to boss games in the same way as Matic at Chelsea.

But perhaps he was never part of the masterplan. Because if Arsenal can sign Geoffrey Kondgobia, they may soon forget the name Schneidelrin.

At 22 Kondogbia is an even better athlete than Schneiderlin. He may lack the finesse of his older compatriot but he has all the raw materials to become a world class talent. He’s powerful, indefatigable and technically brilliant. And, crucially, he’s just as good at centre back as he is in the engine room.

Kondogbia - a special talent

So Arsene could kill two birds with one stone by signing the youngster. If Coquelin continues to do the business, Kondogbia can strengthen the defence. In really big games both can sit in front of the back line in a 4-2-3-1. And if Coquelin is injured or struggling for form, Geoffrey can step into the breach.

It would be a superb signing for an Arsenal team that is crying out for more strength in the spine. The Mirror reported this week:

An Italian media report earlier this week said Kondogbia – who helped Monaco knock Arsenal out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage last season – has held talks with Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

With Petr Cech potentially coming into the club this summer, the addition of Kondogbia could tip the title balance in favour of Arsenal at last.

Let’s see the lad in action. Arsenal fans: Morgan or Geoffrey?
