Very exciting prospect

Manchester United superstar and captain, Wayne Rooney has admitted that it would be exciting to be playing alongside Harry Kane. The Spurs star has been the subject of much transfer speculation over the last couple of months after a sensational breakthrough season where he bagged 31 goals.

At a Nike promo event he is quoted as saying:

“He’s burst onto the scene this season,” Rooney said when asked to pick his dream attack in a Nike promotional video. “He’s done fantastic.”

“He’s a young, English player so it would be exciting to have him in my team.”

Harry Kane: One of our own?

Harry Kane: One of our own?

It really was a remarkable campaign for the lad. We kept thinking that he was going to run out of steam or get found out. But his stream of goals was as steady as it was impressive and he looks nailed on to be the main man for England in the future. Kane’s real forte is his unerring ability in front of goal. Give him a sniff and he doesn’t need many opportunities to put the ball in the back of the net.

Unless Tottenham get into The Champions League over the next few seasons – and we have said before that we think it’s a realistic prospect under the excellent Mauricio Pochettino – then some may see a move as inevitable. But this is a 21 year old who, despite a brilliant campaign, is very much still learning his trade.

If he hits 30 goals next season then we will really have something to shout about. At the moment he should be left to get on with his formative career. But Rooney’s comments will only stoke the fires of speculation as Manchester United once more look to spend big in the market.

Let’s take look at the lad in action. Manchester United fans: any prospect of this move happening?
