In many ways Manchester City would appear best placed to sign the brilliant youngster Raheem Sterling.

The lad may feel that it’s bit too early in his career move abroad. At 21, and with so much more development to come before he can call himself the finished article, Real Madrid may be a step too far right now.

Manchester United may well be interested but Sterling possibly has as good chance of playing for Liverpool’s fiercest rivals as I do of getting a game in my favoured position just off the striker at Old Trafford. That said, I had to eat my hat after RvP wen to Old Trafford.

Some reckon that Sterling may desire a move back to London. But, while Arsenal are replete with pacy wingers, Chelsea are yet to declare a public interest.

This leaves Manchester City, who are desperate to bolster their options after a really disappointing season. Sterling would represent a great signing for the fans – a player who can get bums off seats and speed up the attacks.

The Times football correspondent told Talksport that he thinks a deal can be done before too long:

“The sooner it gets done, the better. It is within everyone’s interests that this deal gets sorted out and everyone moves on,” he said, speaking on the Hawksbee and Jacobs.

“I think it is inevitable this move will happen and I think if they [Manchester City] get to £40m plus £5m [in add-ons] it will get done.”

Sterling was off the boil last season – particularly in the second half of the campaign when the transfer speculation really began – and he hasn’t been great for England over the last 12 months either. But if he can return to his penetrative best he is a genuine game changer and very difficult to defend against.

Let’s take look at the lad in action.
