Some potentially good and bad news for Barcelona over the last day or so.

While they have to be enjoying themselves after becoming the only club in history to win two trebles, they will remain somewhat frustrated about their inability to strengthen this summer.

There is a sense that they will be able to shake hands on a couple of gentleman’s agreements before they can officially sign players in January – we have already seen that sort of arrangement with Aleix Vidal of Sevilla – and the top target could well be Paul Pogba.

The Juventus man looks set to leave the club this summer and there appear to be a long line of elite clubs in the queue for the superb youngster.

Just pay the man!

Just pay the man!

But Barcelona’s presidential candidate, Agusti Benedito, reckons that he will be able to bring the lad with him to the club if he is voted in:

“I have spoken to Pogba. First I contacted Andrea Agnelli then spoke directly with the player. They have proposed an annual salary of €12million after tax and a transfer fee of €80million”,

And The Sun says that:

BARCELONA are in talks with Paul Pogba over a £60million, £350,000-a-week deal, says a top insider at Barcelona.

Real Madrid have this week declared an interest in the player which will be a hammer blow to the hopes of Barcelona doing the deal. One would imagine that the player would be tempted to make a clean move this summer rather than have to wait until January to start playing for Barcelona.

On the flip side, he may be happy to play for another year at Juventus before making the move. And we also feel that Barcelona’s need for that type of player may be greater.

Barcelona fans: still hopeful of a deal?
