Fresh Link: Manchester United lining up shock transfer deal

Smalling and Jones - The future of United's defence?

Good Enough?

Manchester United’s net has obviously been cast far and wide this summer. The aren’t looking to replace a whole team – rather, they need to add around four or five really top class stars. They will need to replace the outgoing David de Gea and buy a new right back.

But, crucially, they also need to strengthen through the middle – give themselves stronger and more domineering spine. As well as an anchor man and a new striker there has been much talk about the acquisition of a centre back.

Miranda, Hummels, Otamendi, Laporte and Vlaar are just a few of the many names mentioned in relation to Manchester United. But this is the first time we have seen a link to the brilliant youngster John Stones.

The Daily Mail publishes an exclusive which suggest that Stones may be on Manchester United’s radar this summer:

Manchester United eyeing up summer bid for Everton defender John Stones

Manchester United are lining up a summer move for Everton starlet John Stones as Louis van Gaal looks to bolster his defensive options.

At just 21 years of age many would be concerned that he’s too young to lead the defence for Manchester United. But anyone who has seen him play will know that he’s one of the most mature 21 year old footballers out there.

When fitness has permitted, he has been a first choice for The Toffees and will be a regular for England before too long.

FINAL WORD: Do we think that Everton will sell? Not yet – nor would the lad want to leave at this point in his career. But is he good enough to play for Manchester United right now? Definitely.

Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Manchester United fans: too early for the lad?
