Manchester United have been linked with a move for Karim Benzema this summer as new Real Madrid manager Rafa Benitez potentially looks to make his mark and reshape the Madrid attack next season.
Benzema is a top performer who had arguably his best season for the Spanish giants last year. So he would count himself rather unfortunate if Real Madrid did want to offload him.
And his agent has strongly denied that Manchester United have been in talks with him over a transfer, as has been widely reported. He is quoted by Marca as saying:
“I haven’t met with any club in London. Not with United and not with anyone else. We haven’t held talks with anyone other than Real Madrid”, he said, adding that his client is focused solely on playing at Real Madrid: “What is Karim going to do in Manchester? He’s happy in Madrid. He doesn’t want to leave. Benzema would only leave if Real Madrid told him he was surplus to requirements, because he isn’t going to leave of his own accord”.
The agent also said that the player plans to retire at Real Madrid.
Benzema has become a household name in world football after consistent success for club and country. He’s played 77 times for France and scored 25 goals for Les Blues. At club level he has scored 133 in 281 for Madrid and 214 in 449 in his club career.
Benzema is a finisher of inordinate composure. He also has power, great movement and genuine creativity. He would be a dream of a player for Manchester United but it remains to be seen whether Real Madrid will attempt to offload him this summer.
Let’s see the lad in action. Manchester United fans: is this what the club needs?
