One conundrum for Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal this summer will surely be what to do in between the sticks. Because David de Gea is probably already playing for Real Madrid in his head.
Meanwhile, you can tell from Louis’s tone that he has faith in the abilities of Victor Valdes and if Manchester United didn’t sign anyone else it would be far from a disaster.
But the Dutchman has been tasked with making Manchester United the best team in the world and if that requires another 20m for a keeper then who’s counting?
But if Manchester United were to sign Asmir Begovic or Petr Cech they wouldn’t have to send anywhere near that much. And reports today suggest that Chelsea have permitted Cech the option to move to Manchester United or Arsenal this summer. The Telegraph says:
Chelsea will grudgingly allow Petr Cech to join another English club
Chelsea keeper Petr Cech CLEARED to join Manchester United or Arsenal
Some felt that Jose would block a move to a direct rival but this may not be the case.
We still feel that Cech might prefer a move across London if he gets call from The Emirates. But Manchester United may fancy a nibble in order to create a vast pool of experience slugging it out for the number one spot next season.
Manchester United fans: would he represent a good signing or would you sooner have a younger player between the sticks?
