We have seen this season that Patrice Evra has had a new lease of life after leaving Manchester United for Juventus – he will play in The Champions League Final this weekend against Barcelona – and a similar scenario is taking place at Manchester United.

Because world star Dani Alves has reportedly agreed a pre-contract deal to join Manchester United this summer once his current deal expires with the Spanish giants.

The Daily Star reports that a deal is in place for the move to go ahead in July.

If we said that Alves has won almost everything worth winning, we wouldn’t be exaggerating. He can’t count The World Cup amongst his trophy haul but he has won La Liga 5 times, The UEFA Cup twice with Sevilla, The Champions League twice with Barcelona etc. etc. He won the La Liga best defender award in 2009 and his list of personal accolades is almost as long.

We have been somewhat sceptical about his move because, at 32, there is a concern that he will cost a lot in wages and only be around for a short time. But there is absolutely no worry that he is simply coming to Manchester United to wind his career down.

Because this is a born competitor and someone who leaves everything out on the football pitch.

Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Manchester United fans: a great signing?
