Champions League winner wants Arsenal move – report

Gone?

There has been a whole lot of rumour and counter rumour about Petr Cech. What we can state with some confidence is that he is more than likely to move on this summer after falling down the pecking order and being clearly regarded, now, as the number two at Chelsea.

Cech may not be Chelsea’s number one these days but he is a number 1 on merit. He’s too good to be benched in his prime and he will surely be in new colours by the new season.

Many Arsenal fans want Arsene Wenger to pull out all the stops to sign the lad and The Express reckons that the player’s preference is for a move to North London. They report:

Petr Cech to inform Chelsea he has heart set on Arsenal move

Cech - still a top stopper

Cech – still a top stopper

Common sense usually prevails with a lot of the nonsense that comes out of the press. But this deal makes a lot of sense. Arsenal desperately need a top keeper (whether Arsene agrees is the subject of some debate). The player himself has spent almost a decade in London and seems very settled there.

So a short move to a Champions League team which plays attractive football in a state of the art stadium sounds like the perfect ticket for Cech, who still has so much to offer despite winning everything with The Blues, including The Champions League in 2012.

Arsenal will probably spend more on other players this summer. But, for our money, they would struggle to make a better signing – considering their needs – than the Chelsea legend.

Arsenal fans: How important is the signing of a top keeper?
