The Daily Mail reports that Liverpool have made a bid for an England international as they quickly look to address the problems of last season:
Liverpool see £10million bid for Nathaniel Clyne rejected by Southampton as Brendan Rodgers eyes Glen Johnson replacement
Nathaniel Clyne is a superb player and although Liverpool may land him, with Champions League sides also circling, it’s good to see that the right intent is being shown.
£10m won’t get you much in The Premier League these days and Liverpool must know that they will have to raise their offer if they are going to get anywhere near to signing a 24 year old who looks for all the world as if he will become an England regular and who could arguably get into any team in The Premier League.
We would love to see Jon Flanagan get more game time next season but his injury record isn’t great and with Glen Johnson’s candle burning out Clyne would be a magnificent addition.
FINAL WORD: The signing of Clyne would be a no-brainer for Liverpool, and if they want him enough then they might force through a deal – albeit at a much higher price – but we fear that this could be where the reality of their failure to get into The Champions League will bite as Clyne opts for a team at Europe’s top table next season.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Liverpool fans: can you see the club signing Clyne or will they be outbid by a Champions League side?
