Manchester United have had to deal with some painful departures in the past and it looks as if they are suffering another long goodbye with the services of David de Gea.
In truth, Manchester United was always going to be a stepping stone for the Spaniard to eventually move back to his home country. We have been writing about it for years.
But it doesn’t make it any easier to take when your best player seems intent on leaving.
Marca has reported that Real Madrid have tabled a bid of €20M as the bidding begins:
Save a massive last-minute change in negotiations, it seems that the Spanish shotstopper will be playing for Real Madrid next season, and Florentino Pérez has reportedly tabled a first bid in the region of €20 million.
In reality it will be a wonderful signing for Real Madrid – De Gea is not only arguably the best keeper in the world but he’s also on of the few that makes goalkeeping sexy with his spectacular saves and majestic distribution.
Manchester United are probably resigned to losing the lad but what they must do now is exploit the deal to its fullest. Real Madrid are desperate for De Gea to be their successor to Casillas for the next ten years. But the price they should be made to pay by Manchester United is to relinquish Gareth Bale. Only then will Manchester United feel that they have some true compensation for losing their player of the season to a Real Madrid side who is starting to make a habit of taking United’s best.
