Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger loves to invest in youth, in the hope that at least some of the eggs will hatch, and latest reports suggest that he has signed another young gem ahead of Manchester United. The Daily Mail reports:
Arsenal have pipped Manchester United to the signature of Lens forward Yassin Fortune.
The 16-year-old has been chased by both clubs over recent months as they charted his progress for Lens and France U16s, notably during the games against Switzerland and England in February.
The deal is understood to be worth a potential £3million to Lens which was considered too much of a gamble by their Old Trafford counterparts.
The man tipped for Arsenal is said to be a quick and adaptable player who can fill any of the forward positions. He will sign a three year deal at Arsenal, with the first two as a scholar and the final year as a professional.
Watching him in the below clip you can’t help but hope for future similarities between this lad and the legendary Arsenal man Thierry Henry, as Fortune scurries down the left flank before cutting in, beating his man and finishing beautifully with his right foot.
He has an awful long way to go and, at just 16, he is likely to go under the radar for a couple of years yet, as he develops physically. But he looks to have good balance and a deft touch already.
Take a look at the lad in a action.
