The Telegraph reported this week that the brilliant Stoke stopper, Asmir Begovic, will part company with his current employers this summer after failing to agree terms on a new deal which would keep him at the club for another few years.
Asmir Begovic to leave Stoke City after contract talks stall.
Stoke ready to trigger £8million chase for the Bosnian goalkeeper after refusing to make him their best-paid player.
With the future of David de Gea so uncertain we wouldn’t imagine that £8m would break Manchester United’s bank.
If they are unsure about whether they can hold on to De Gea then surely Begovic should be snapped up. He may not be quite as cat-like or spectacular as the Spaniard.
But, at 28, he’s a accomplished a seriously good stopper who wouldn’t let Manchester United down. At 27 Begovic has 6 solid years of Premier League appearances for Stoke and played 171 times. He’s also established himself as the unsdisputed number 1 for Bosnia and Herzegovina, playing 40 times and helping them to the World Cup finals in 2014.
Hugo Lloris has also been talked about in relation to United but we think that, at £8m, the Begovic deal should be too good for Manchester United to turn down.
Let’s take a look at the big man in action. Manchester United fans: do you think that the club should invest in Begovic or would you prefer Lloris if De Gea leaves?
