Amazing talent

As the days tick down to the opening of the transfer window, it seems ever more apparent that Manchester City are putting their eggs in the Pogba basket this summer.

At 22 the Frenchman seems like one of the only players in world football who could possibly replace Yaya Toure at Manchester City with any degree of success.

We would stress, at this point, that Pogba isn’t as good as a Toure in his pomp – and may never be. But he has something of a similar skill set to the Manchester City hero, as a goal-scoring midfielder of true flair and presence.

Latest reports suggest that Manchester City have opened talks with Juventus about a summer move for their star player. The Guardian says:

Manchester City’s determination to prise Paul Pogba from Juventus has led to Yaya Touré being offered as a makeweight in a deal for the Frenchman, who is valued at €100m (£71.5m) by the Italian champions. City have visited Turin to hold talks over a potential transfer for the 22-year-old.

Just like that of Sergio Aguero, this could represent another game-changing transfer for a Manchester City side who went off the boil this season. Yes, they have recovered since the defeat by Manchester United. But look at the run of fixtures that they have had. You would fully expect a side with Manchester City’s squad to win all theses games.

But if they want to stay abreast of the top sides they need to make a big move in the market this summer and Pogba would be a superb addition.

Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Manchester City fans: are there any of you out there who don’t think that this would be a good signing?
