We report that The Daily Star reports that reports in Spain report that Real Madrid are preparing to sell one of their top stars and that Manchester United could be keen:
Man United and Arsenal on RED ALERT as Madrid prepare to sell Karim Benzema
In terms of Manchester United wanting him, it would require Wayne Rooney to drop back to a number 10 role, which would in turn require a departure from the 4-3-3 which Louis likes. Either that or Rooney would continue to operate in midfield. Because neither is likely to be warming the bench.
As for Real selling him, well anyone who has seen Benzema playing for Madrid on a regular basis this season will agree that he’s enjoying some of the best form of his career.
He has tailed off a bit recently but he is finally realising all of the vast potential that he had as a teenager. Real Madrid didn’t sell him when he wasn’t playing so well, so there is little reason to think that they will sell him when he is in the prime of his career (aged 27) and playing out of his skin.
FINAL WORD: On recent form Benzema is certainly good enough to play for Manchester United – he’s a devastating finisher and has great link up play – but it seems crazy that Real Madrid would sell the Frenchman when they haven’t got a number 9 to replace him. NO DEAL
