Despite Manchester United being linked to some of the best players in the world over the last few months former Manchester United star and BBC pundit, Phil Neville, reckons that a new deal for a current star of the team would represent the best possible business for the club this summer.
He’s quoted in The Mirror, who say:
David De Gea would be Manchester United’s best summer signing, says Phil Neville
The biggest thing is David De Gea, and keeping him at the football club.
“He’s now at the stage where you’d say he’s world-class.
The De Gea situation is very worrying for the fans and Manchester United themselves. Normally United players have their contracts renewed when they run down to around 18 months, so the fact that De Ga hasn’t renewed with just a year left on his deal tells you that all is not well.
Perhaps he is just holding out for a better deal. But, with Real Madrid in need of a new keeper, with Iker Casillas coming to the end of his remarkable career, you wonder whether we are about to see another big hitter leave Manchester United for Real Madrid.
We all know how good he has been for the club but we also think that, unless his heart and soul is on the job in hand then Manchester United may be better to cash in now rather than let him go for nothing next summer.
Manchester United fans: at this stage, can you see the De Gea situation coming to a satisfactory conclusion for the club?
