Having watched PSG beat Chelsea over two legs in the last round, it’s clear that this is a team which has progressed well over the last twelve months.
Although Barcelona outclassed a very string Manchester City side in the last round, they won’t be taking this game lightly.
Barcelona do of course have one of the very best strike forces in world football when they are fit. But, with players like David Luiz and Marquinhos PSG will have world class defenders in place to stem the threat. And Barca know all about the talent of Zlatan and his ability to create something out of nothing in the big games – thankfully they won’t have to face him until the second leg due to a one match suspension.
Our instinct tells us that this could be a really tight tie which is won by the odd goal. But Barcelona are still capable of destroying any team on their day and it may be a case of hanging in there for the first leg for the French Champions.
Barcelona have had recent injury doubts over Lionel Messi and Jordi Alba but both are fit for this one and Barcelona’s only injury concern is over Thomas Vermaelen who has been cruelly sidelined all season by a series of problems.
While we expect Barcelona to come through this one, PSG do look as if they are ready to step up in this competition and if they can get through this round then the sky is the limit.
Here is our strongest XI to face PSG. Barcelona fans: Discuss
