Barcelona have every right to believe that they can take The Champions League crown again this year. While the obvious contenders, Bayern Munchen and Real Madrid, don’t look quite as imperious as they did earlier in the season, Barcelona have steadily improved and look like a fearsome unit once more, with Suarez clicking into place in that brilliant front line.

All thoughts will be on the PSG game but, beyond that, Barcelona need to sort out the right side of their defence. With Dani Alves seemingly leaving the club, after declining the new deal on the table, Barca will surely prioritise a right back when their transfer ban is lifted in January.

Reports today suggest that Barcelona have identified a Serie A player as a major target. Marca says:

Ariedo Braida, recently appointed by Barcelona as the man to handle the player market, flew to Turin to take a good look at Matteo Darmian. The Torino and Italy right-back impressed Braida greatly.

“Darmian looked really good to me, but there’s still a lot of room for improvement there yet”, he commented.

As you would expect for a defender that Barcelona may be keen on, the Torino player is a dynamic, quick and aggressive full back who loves to get forward. At 25 he has played 11 times for Italy and is starting to become a regular for the national team.

But Italians are renowned for their great defending and Darmian does this part well too. He may not have quite the wow factor of Alves but he may just fit the bill.

Let’s take a look at him in action. Barcelona fans: the man to replace Dani?
