It would have been impossible to imagine a few months ago but Marouane Fellaini looks as if he will be as important as any player on the pitch as Manchester United take on City in the derby this weekend.
His form has rocketed since the dark days of his first season and a half at the club and he is now one of the big hitters for an on form Manchester United side which is hoping to get one over on their great rivals this weekend and gain a four point lead over The Blues.
While there will be so much technical quality on show in the game Fellaini says that the physical battle will also be crucial to the result. He is quoted in The Express as saying:
“In the derby you have to be more aggressive and more tough if you want to win.”
After his recent influence on the side it’s easy to imagine Fellaini scoring a crucial goal on sunday but his defensive and battling quite will also be needed if Manchester United are to get a result.
“Everything has to be within the rules, but the physical side in England is why it’s such a competitive league.
“It’s a massive game. It will be intense for the players and the supporters.
This game could have a big impact on the final standings but Fellaini is in no doubt what the main prize is for Manchester United this season:
“We want to play in the Champions League next season so we have to win in front of our supporters. We have to do everything to win.”
